Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon continues to solidify her status as a solo artist.
It is reported that she will be dropping her first studio (full-length) solo album in April and having her first solo concert as well. While the exact album release date is still being adjusted, the dates for the concert have been set to April 23-24 at the Seoul Bangi-dong Olympic Park Olympic Hall. After the release of her mini album “I” last year, TaeTiSeo promotions in December, and a single in February, Taeyeon will be dropping content in a high frequency of two months, with the release of her new album.
Although Taeyeon previously had a concert at the Seoul Samseong-dong COEX, since this was a part of the SM Entertainment relay concert brand, “The Agit,” her upcoming concert will be her first true solo stage. The fact that Taeyeon is releasing a full album and holding a solo concert in the digital era shows that she is working to solidify the brand of “Taeyeon,” different from just being the vocal in “Girls’ Generation.”
Meanwhile, after dropping her first solo mini album last October, Taeyeon had the highest sales among female solo artists of 2015 and was third in digital music sales (according to Gaon). Taeyeon even took home awards for the year-end, New Year season for Best Female Artist in the “Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA),” among others.
Are you excited for Taeyeon’s new album?
